TERMS & CONDITIONS

The following terms and conditions apply to all clients who book and pay for services with Hanna Nielson, and it is assumed you have read and agree to the following: 

 

1) You must be 18+ years of age in order to use my services and agree to these terms. These terms apply only to you as the client and myself, and not to any third parties.

2) Client details and works submitted will be dealt with confidentially and with professional sensitivity. I agree not to knowingly distribute, disclose, or otherwise make use of your copyrighted works for personal or professional gain, nor to use them in the training of AI/LLM-related software.

3) Payment of fees is required in advance, by bank transfer, before I begin work on your project. Upon request, I can offer partial payment terms (in 2 instalments of 50% of the total amount, for amounts exceeding £1000). Terms of payment cannot be changed after work begins on your project. I reserve the right to cancel work on your project if fees are not paid as agreed.

​4) I agree to provide original feedback and bespoke editorial services, provided entirely by myself and based on my professional expertise, without the use (in any form) of AI or LLM technologies.

5) It is your responsibility to notify me in advance of any potentially unacceptable content (extreme and/or graphic subject matter beyond what is considered acceptable for general adult audiences). I am under no obligation to continue working on projects that are later discovered to include gratuitous/shock value content, hate speech, or other unacceptable content, and our agreement will be voided without a refund.  

 

6) Purchases of one type of Professional Service do not include additional types of services. For example, Developmental Editing does not include Proofreading, and Consultations do not include Manuscript Assessments, etc.

7) You agree to submit only your own original work, written by yourself without assistance from AI/LLM technologies. You must notify in advance if the work was created with uncredited co-writers or ghostwriters. The copyright must be fully owned by yourself, and not include material that violates the intellectual property (including characters, worlds, or trademarks) of others. I reserve the right to discontinue our agreement without a refund if I discover, or have strong reason to suspect, you have submitted work that is not your own.

8) Once I begin work on your project, submissions of revised or updated manuscripts will not be accepted. Only upload the manuscript you intend for me to work on.

9) Expedited rates are available, however they must be agreed and paid in advance. A project underway cannot be 'expedited' once started.

 

10) Delivery times: I aim to delivery projects at the earliest possible convenience while still maintaining standards of excellence. However, exact delivery dates are estimates, and subject to change depending on my workload. I will endeavour to deliver projects within a 1 week window of agreed deadlines, and agree to notify in advance of any delays, barring events or acts of God beyond my control.

11) Copyright remains with the author.

​

12) My rates do not include VAT. As a freelancer, I do not meet the UK VAT threshold and therefore I do not include VAT in my prices.
